Middletown, N.Y. – April 14, 2016 – Crystal Run Healthcare has partnered with On My Way Early Learning & Childcare Center to expand its S.T.E.M. program – Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics – with monthly visits from Crystal Run Healthcare Physicians. The yearlong program focuses on providing students with knowledge beyond the classroom curriculum in order for them to explore, discover, and learn. Each month, a Crystal Run Healthcare physician volunteers their time to present to four groups of Pre K 3 and Pre K 4 students with hands-on lessons ranging from Cardiology and Endocrinology to Gastroenterology and Pulmonology, part of the childcare center’s Science initiative. Thus far this year, Crystal Run Healthcare Cardiologist, Dr. Sandeep Singh, and Crystal Run Healthcare Gastroenterologist, Dr. Cecilia Minano, have given presentations on Cardiology and Gastroenterology, respectively, with short educational videos, activities, and anatomy models to generate student’s participation and allow them the opportunity to explore questions related to the specific topic.
Crystal Run Healthcare has an enduring commitment to supporting education as well as giving back to the local community. In addition to partnering with On My Way Early Learning & Childcare Center’s S.T.E.M. program, providers and staff at Crystal Run also participate in Pine Bush High School’s Excelsior Medical Academy and Summer Medical Academy for over four years now and have supported the Wallkill East Rotary Club and Middletown Business & Professional Women’s Club scholarship programs by granting over $32,000 since 2005 and 2012, respectively, to high school seniors pursuing advanced education in the field of healthcare.
“We are very excited and proud to have partnered with Crystal Run Healthcare to enhance our S.T.E.M. curriculum. Once a month, a Crystal Run Physician conducts a hands-on interactive assembly for the children. This provides them with an incredible learning experience as the children are able to learn the science behind the human body, the technology the doctor uses, as well as the mathematics that doctor is required to do in order to excel in his/her job. This partnership allows children to understand the importance of key leaders in the community, which is also an important part of our curriculum”, said Peggy Fuentes, owner of On My Way Early Learning & Childcare Center.
