|Dear Kathy, Peggy, Eric and the entire On My Way staff,
In the aftermath of the heartbreaking and terrifying events that occurred in Newtown Ct today, a town no more than 35 miles from my own school where I am an elementary teacher, I feel compelled to write this note. I want to personally thank you all, on behalf of my family, for the countless precautions and procedures you take to ensure, each day, that our children are safe. No one would ever dream of a possibility of such events and I can’t even begin to imagine the pain being felt in that community today. I feel safety has become, for some, an overlooked expectation. Please know that we realize and continue to realize the efforts put forth by you all and the entire staff, so that we may go to work each day, truly knowing that no stone has been left unturned when it comes to the safety, security and wellbeing of our children.

Safety and Security is of paramount importance to all of us at On My Way! We pride ourselves on being one of the most secure early learning centers in the county.
Upon enrollment, our parents are finger printed using our unique biometric software which allows entry into our facility. Without a finger print, you are not able to gain access to our center. This provides added peace of mind for our clients knowing that their children are safe and secure while in our care. We truly are a “locked down” facility.
Each classroom is designed with an emergency door that leads outside in the event of an emergency. Every classroom has a primary and secondary exit route to evacuate the building. Security checks are done each day to ensure there are no obstructions on our walkways to prohibit a safe and quick exit out of our primary and secondary exit doors. Exits signs are illuminated indicating all exit points of the building.
Each month we conduct a fire drill so that our little ones get used to exiting the building in a timely and orderly fashion. We want to ensure that all children understand and practice this important safety exercise so that in the event of a real emergency both staff and children are well prepared.
Lock Down Drills
Periodic “lock down” drills are practiced so that both children and staff are prepared should there be a “threat” of entry by an unauthorized person(s). We pride ourselves on being able to go into complete “lock down” in less than 60 seconds for all classrooms. This includes classroom doors locked, lights out and children and staff in bathrooms and closets within the classroom.
Great care went into the design of our building; even down to the electrical outlets. We spared no expense on safety that is why we installed “child proof” electrical outlets that do not require a plastic plug as the safety feature is already built into the outlet. This means that you do not have to worry about someone forgetting to put the safety plug back in the outlet!!!
We are proud to have received the prestigious Markel Safety Award for our exemplary safety and security practices
