Preschool & Assisted Living Center Join to Enhance Reading Program
MIDDLETOWN, NY, September 16, 2016- On My Way Early Learning & Childcare Center has partnered with Braemar Assisted Living to expand the childcare center’s literacy program. Resident volunteers from Braemar Assisted Living will visit On My Way Early Learning & Childcare Center weekly to present to four groups of Pre-K 3 and Pre-K 4 students with engaging readings that are part of the childcare center’s literacy initiative. The “Community Reader” program will provide students with knowledge outside of the classroom’s curriculum.
The new literacy program will begin Wednesday, September 14, 2016 to celebrate Assisted Living Week, whose theme is “Keep Connected.” Owner of On My Way Early Learning & Childcare Center, Peggy Fuentes said, “Over the last year, we have celebrated several different holidays with Braemar Assisted Living, creating an intergenerational connection with our students and their residents. We are thrilled to have created such a great bond with our neighbors.”
Fuentes added, “I am excited that residents of Braemar Assisted Living are able to contribute to furthering our literacy program. The children are eager to see which of our Braemar friends will be readers each week.”
